Meet the Owners
"Nick and Barbara Christophilopoulos, owners and operators of Makin' Bacon, began selling bacon-infused breakfast and lunch options [in the summer of 2014.]
After growing discontent with office work, Nick Christophilopoulos pitched the idea of a pig-centric eatery to his wife. With persistence, Barbara Christophilopoulos said she was eventually convinced and the two set out to bring hot, crispy bacon to the masses, via a traveling truck. "Nick cooks and I do everything else," Barbara Christophilopoulos chuckled, talking about the family business between serving hungry customers. With menu items including bacon-laden sandwiches and a Jack Daniels bacon brownie, customers gathered around the station soon after opening. Inside the white food truck, Nick Christophilopoulos cooks up each order as it comes in. Anything they serve needs to be prepared the same day and when it's gone, it's gone." - RJ Wolcott, MLive |
In the summer of 2018, the Makin' Bacon Market Cafe was born along side the grand opening of the SVRC Marketplace in downtown Saginaw.
Surrounded by the freshest ingredients from the Saginaw Farmers' Market, Nick and Barb use local ingredients in all of their dishes. The ever changing harvest even inspires the pair to create new and daily specials such as the famous Makin' Bacon Street Corn, a golden ear of corn roasted in bacon fat and topped with spices and, of course, more bacon. |
